The sun going down
There is art to be found
In the flow of the river
Look, a river of gold
Oh how so bold
In the shadows of the summer cool
The sun going down
There is art to be found
In the flow of the river
Look, a river of gold
Oh how so bold
In the shadows of the summer cool
Evening is fast approaching
The river opening up
A reflecting of color on the water
Wind shaped snow drifts
The art of nature
A touch of blue
This is My favorite time to photograph. The sun at tree level. The lighting is soft and warm. The color is outstanding.
This is the magic moment.
Up close and personal
My brother Bob parked the car in the crowded parking lot at the entrance to Payto Lake.
Gathering our gear, we were soon on our way. The first thing I noticed was the large crowd of Chinese tourists. Where ever we went they were there. We picked up the Peyto Lake trail. There was snow in the bush here. Hmmm, interesting. We made our way along the trail, passing out coming tourist along the way. We finally arrived at the viewing platform. The photo above was one of my many creations here.
This vibrant blue glacier-fed lake, located about 40 km (25 mi) north of Lake Louise in Banff National Park, is a popular stop for visitors travelling along the famed Icefields Parkway. Throughout the summer months, glacier rock flour flows into the lake, which gives the water its breathtaking colour.
Walking into the viewing area, we encountered snow. There were many people constantly coming and going here. I could not capture the whole of Peyto Lake. I lacked a wide-angled lense to get the whole lake into the photo.

Late evening at High Falls, Levack. A location that Group of Severn member A Y Jackson chose to paint many years ago.
Everyday you will find this gentleman push his cart up the street in Jinotega and set up in the same location. His source of income is selling bananas.
Whenever he is hungry he eats a banana or two.
I spoke to him about taken his photo. He was okay with that.
This composition was taken on my last trip into Grundy Provincial Park. Maureen and I had walked in from the main gate. The hike to Clear Lake that afternoon was very enjoyable. The temperature was warm enough to be comfortable. Clear Lake had ice forming on the surface here and there. The above location was the South shoreline of Clear Lake. The rock structure along here was unique for its patterns. The vegetation was a rustic color. The ice had patterns. The ice in the foreground had blue reflection from the sky.

My wife Maureen had a day off last Wednesday, so I suggested that we load the canoe and head for Bassfin Lake up the Matagamasi Lake Road. I had photographed along the lake by the road many times. I wanted to find out what else the lake had to offer. With that decided we packed a lunch and headed out. This is a short trip from Sudbury to the lake. We quickly loaded our Quebecor 17 canoe and pushed off. It was a wonderful afternoon. Bright blue skies and warm temperatures. The wind was light.
Maureen and I paddled across the lake and turned into a small channel that opened onto a bay. This is one of those locations were you enter a new world and mysteries. The rock structures were unique. There was a lot of detail in the rock faces. We paddled to the end of the bay. I located a spot to land the canoe. Quickly unloading, we walked up an exposed rock formation that slanted towards the interior of the surrounding landscape. Where I was set up I was overlooking the bay from a height advantage.
By now it was late afternoon. I set up my tripod in a favorable location and waited. This was like sitting in your own little world. No other people around. A beautiful sight before you. I sat their just watching the play of light among the trees. This is a good way to become knowledgeable in the ways of lighting in a wilderness setting. The wind was dancing lightly here and there before setting down. It was not long before the reflections began to appear. I took a number of photos as time progressed. The above photo is the last one I shot where there was just a bit of lighting striking the tree tops in the background. You can also see a sprinkling of light to the left. The sun was setting to my left.
Maureen and I enjoyed a great evening here. Just soaking up the beauty of this scenic location, plus hanging out together.Well that is it for this week. I hope everyone has a good weekend. Thank you for stopping by. Until next week happy trails.
Well walking the shoreline of the Vermillion River near my home early one morning,I came across the above composition. The fog had lifted. The sun lit up the yellow leaves on the left.I had a Birch tree and another tree trunk to work with. The two trunks created a V shape.I shot tight to the shore line using the green grass as my foreground. There was some pieces of wood at the base.I kept the yellow leafs that were sunlit to the left in the photo.Just showed some sky at the top which was a beautiful blue along with the white clouds,
While that is it for this week.I just returned from O S A Lake in Killarney Provincial Park.We spent 5 days there photographing.I will do a post sometime next week when I have processed some photos. So until next ime happy trails.
