With the wind still blowing, the fire’s edge was approaching a gully. I used this clump of hard soil standing like a rock for my foreground. There by creating some depth.

Mountain Fire
The winds were blowing out the North yesterday at a brisk pace. The town of Jinotega, Nicaragua is nestled down in a valley surrounded by the mountains. This event occurred on the Eastern side of Jinotega on the mountain slopes.
It is a common practice that occurs every year in March to set fires to burn the vegetation. It is a very dry time of year as you can see by the color of the grass. No homes were burnt.
AS a photo opportunity I saw some potential. Grabbing my camera I headed to a small hill. Jinotega is infested with wires crisscrossing the streets. So being on the hill eliminated that problem. There is a gully running the side of the mountain here that gave some depth and a focal point. Three trees surrounded by smoke and fire on the edge of the gully add to the element of this composition. Then I added a few casa at the bottom to present a sense of danger. Will the wind shift to the East and send the fire roaring through the homes
Pitaya
The evening was late. The last of the sunlight fading away. A spot of light caught the tip of the cactus, Pitaya’s emerging flower.
The Pitaya is a very large crawling type of cactus. The flower very large. The fruit makes an excellent drink.

The cinnamon hummingbird (Amazilia rutila) is a species of hummingbird in the family Trochilidae. It is found from northwestern Mexico to Costa Rica. The info taken from Wikipedia
One day I had the opportunity to photograph this little baby waiting for a parent to feed it in my garden. I was able to set up the camera and tripod within five feet of my little subject. The hummingbirds are use to me being around them. I used my 200 mm lens.
The lighting was good. I was able to achieve a high shutter speed for good stop action. It was a delightful six hours of observing and capturing the hummingbird doing its thing
Two Lonely People
Two Lonely People
There was a time
Not that long ago
We shared our love
Just two lonely people
Searching for that love
That we could never have
The passion was there
The fires were burning
But in time, in time
The fires became embers
Our passion soon cooled
Two lonely people
It was a cold wet day
We kissed one last time
We parted ways
Just two lonely people
To search forever
For that one love
That can never be found
Just two lonely people
There was a time
Not that long ago
We shared our love
Just two lonely people
Searching for that love
That we could never have
The passion was there
The fires were burning
Just two lonely people
Just two lonely people
Looking for that one love
Searching forever…
chit-chat
I caught this scene walking the streets of Jinotega. A pack horse tied up at edge of street. The horse owner having a chit-chat with a friend.
Papayas Flower
I was travelling North of Jinotega up in the mountains last week. We stopped at a coffee Finca. I was strolling along a path with camera gear. I spotted a small papayas growing by a house.
All the elements were here for a great composition. The flowers, immature fruit. Beautiful lighting. The result was the above composition
So until next time, happy trails
Fast Asleep
Love this photo. A mother with her vendor cart was approaching me. In the corner of the cart was her little boy, fast asleep. I walked up to the Mother. I spoke a few words. My Spanish is limited. I asked her for permission to photograph her son. Photographed in Jinotega, Nicaragua
Looking For Someone
A young lady poked her head out the window of her house. She may have been looking to see what was happening around her. Or maybe waiting for someone. I asked if I may photograph her. She gave me the attitude that she did not care.
Children On The Corner
Interesting story here. The kids are gathered at a street corner. The youngest group are gathered by the door talking among themselves. That is until they noticed me. Then I got the beautiful smiles. In the middle are three older girls having a discussion. Two boys sitting in the lower right of photo studying the chess game for the next move.
