The sun going down
There is art to be found
In the flow of the river
Look, a river of gold
Oh how so bold
In the shadows of the summer cool
The sun going down
There is art to be found
In the flow of the river
Look, a river of gold
Oh how so bold
In the shadows of the summer cool
This is My favorite time to photograph. The sun at tree level. The lighting is soft and warm. The color is outstanding.
This is the magic moment.
Up close and personal
I came upon this scene walking the streets of Jinotega one evening. The mesh softens the over all composition. The clothes add color and depth.
The sound of waves
Rolling upon the beach
Receding before the next
Oncoming wave
The pebbles on the beach
A rainbow of colors
As they glistening in the sun
I had a dream
That I was walking
On a lonely beach
The sky was blue
The clouds moving on
The hills far in the distance
Covered in a dark mist
The beach stretching to infinity
I had a dream
That I was walking
On a lonely beach
The sun is settling
Over the vast waters
Of an ever moving
Lake Superior
The lowering sun is
Casting its Golding light
Upon the beach
I had a dream
That I was walking
On a lonely beach
The waves wash upon
The wet sand
Before receding
Leaving a golden pool
In its wake
The next wave appearing
And slowly receding
A pool of golden light
Remains in its path
I had a dream
That I was walking
On a lonely beach
The sun ever sinking
In the far horizon
Clouds a pink glow
With the sun’s demise
The darken sky
Turning a rich red
To be reflected
As a mirrored image
On the gently rolling
Surface of Lake Superior
I had a dream
That I was walking
On a lonely beach
Night has come
The stars beckon
In the night sky
The moon casting
A slivery Path
Upon the moving waters
The trees mere shadows
The hills dark on the horizon
The moonlit beach beckons
I had a dream
That I was walking
On a lonely beach
Late evening of a warm summer day
The sky is cloudless
The sun is low
The river runs low
The water is pure
The boulders turn chromatic
The scene becomes dramatic
The slow moving water
Is saturated with color
A reflection of gold
With a splashing of blue
The surrounding rocks
Glowing from the diffusion
Of the surrounding colors
Creating a spell-bounding scene
The evening light is fading
The brilliance of color
Lost in the shadows
Of the oncoming night
The composition above is a dramatic micro scene that can be found in and around waterfalls.
You have to look close to find them.
They are something to behold.
More so when you have it up on your computer screen
Keep a sharp eye out.

A slowly setting sun.Golden reflections on the water.Lovely shaped rocks with lichens growing on the rock surface. In the foreground you can see the water flowing into the small pool. The curvature of the rocks along with the rock surface’s smoothness give added detail to this composition. The rocks are now glowing with color from the late evening sun.
My latest book Spirit of The River is now available in Apple’s iBookstore

Spring is slowly arriving in my neck of the woods and I am looking forward to getting back out into the woods.
I was going through my files this week and came across this photo taken last November.I love these tight shots were you have only water and rocks.Throw in color and a nice composition is to be had.The above photo is a result of low lighting casting a golden glow on the water and the blue is a result of a clear blue sky. When the lighting is low the rocks take on a soft colorful look to them adding very much to the photo. The only argument to be said about the photo is that there is too much water.I will be going back to this location and shooting with that in mind.
The ice on the rocks at the top right add a nice touch. The zoom was set at 80 mm and I had a shutter speed of 1 sec @ f22.
Well that is it for this week so until next time happy trails.
The photo at your feet. Many times while out photographing I have come across a nice composition right at my feet.It really pays to look down and see what is there before you while you are scanning the whole landscape. I call this the photo within the photo. The above photo was captured during a late Spring evening and the water was glowing from within. Placing the 6 ” waterfalls in the top left hand corner and framing the gold color water with the rocks I was able to create this awesome photo as the color just pops out at you.
The photo was taken with a zoom setting of 41 mm and a shutter speed of 0.8 sec f29.The ISO was set at 100.You could almost call this micro landscape photograph or photo art.
The photo shown above is another capture that I created by looking down in front of me.This particular photo has beautiful lighting and pure energy.By using a slow shutter speed you create flow patterns that help in the creation of the photo.
The photo was taken with a zoom setting of 41mm and a shutter speed of 1.3 sec f 29.Remember at this close range you need your depth of field for the detail. So until next time, look down and happy trails.
