Streamside

Whiteswan Provincial Park, BC

I was walking along the shore of Whiteswan Lake, I noticed water entering the lake.

I followed the stream up into the woods. The scene that you see here is what caught my eye. A little bit busy, but okay. There is enough color to enhance the composition

Storm Clouds

Storm clouds were approaching. I was photographing Whiteswan lake at Whiteswan Provincial Park BC when i notice storm clouds rolling along at the mountains. I had two yellow clumps of shrubs in front of me. A stand of dark green evergreens in the middle . Then the background with the Rocky Mountains and the rolling storm clouds.

Thus giving me the depth of field that I like.

Happy New Year everyone

Thanks for supporting my work in 2019

Depth And Contrast

_MG_2342_5765

When I first looked at this scene, I saw a lot of contrast and depth.

The yellow colored shrubs in the foreground. The dark evergreens behind.

Then the mountains in the background in great detail.

The dark clouds swirling around.

As a different tack, I showed less sky and more foreground in this composition.

The photo was taken in Whiteswan Provincial Park

Rest Area

A beautiful little lake located just off of Hwy 95. The Kootenay Hwy North of Fort Steele BC. It is designated as a rest area. With the mountains in the background, calm waters and Rainbow Trout feeding on the surface.

I spent considerable time at this location waiting for the right conditions to photograph.

Finally I was able to stitch together a panoramic composition as you see above.

Storm Appoaching

St Mary’s Lake, BC. I was set up photographing St Mary’s Lake from the side of the mountain. The lighting began to change dramatically to my left. The sky was darkening. There was more shadows appearing. You can see the rain approaching through the valley on the left. But still some sunlight breaking through the clouds. The mountain side became awash with light.
