Whiteswan Provincial Park

_MG_2400_5821

I spent the whole day surrounded by beauty. I drove up the side of the mountain. I drove down the other side of the mountain. Before me was a beautiful valley surrounded by mountains. This was White Swan Provincial Park. There are two lakes located here. Alces Lake and Whiteswan Lake. The above photo shows the back end of Whiteswan Lake.

The camera is set up on the tripod. The composition is ready. The wind is fickle. One moment it is calm. Then a breath of wind disturbs part o your scene. A ripple upon the lake surface. You wait and you wait. Then, the wind is gone. A photo is shot. The wind comes again. You quietly wait. The calm returns. A photo is shot. The sun breaks through among dark clouds. There is brightness on the mountains. A beautiful composition has been created. Whew.

Rest Area

_MG_1902_5135-Pano

A beautiful little lake located just off of Hwy 95. The Kootenay Hwy North of Fort Steele BC. It is designated as a rest area. With the mountains in the background, calm waters and Rainbow Trout feeding on the surface.

I spent considerable time at this location waiting for the right conditions to photograph.

Finally I was able to stitch together a panoramic composition as you see above.

Mica Bay, Lake Superior

MicaBay5

Mica Bay, Lake Superior. This was one of my enjoyable evenings spent exploring the shoreline of Mica Bay, Lake Superior.

The evening was becoming late as I observed this scene. The lake was rolling gently. The exposure would be long. That would create a dreamy affect on the water. More so in the foreground. I cast around for a suitable collection of rocks at the water’s edge. The composition soon came together in my mind. I set my tripod as low as I could set it. Therefore, allowing me to create an illusion of less water. To tighten the composition I shot vertically. Too much water would spoil the effect of the composition.

I stretched out on the beach. Being eye level showed me my composition as I wanted it. Thus I was able to create my scene.

Late Fall

Hunting_0006

The Fall of each year brings out the muted earth colors of the vegetation in the north country. The spectacular display of the Maples and Oaks are mostly finished. The temperatures are getting colder. What is left?

The rich yellows and browns of various grasses growing in swampy areas. Black Spruce is common in wet areas. Therefore giving you green color in the low light of afternoon.  spectacular, no. Just a nice soft blend of color pleasing to the eye.

Tamarack

Hunting_0011

The fall colors of the maple and oak are almost gone now. Standing out in contrast with the green of the pines and spruce, the tamarack displays its beauty. The tamarack is also known as larch.

The Algonquian people named this tree tamarack. The meaning, wood used for snowshoes. Its habitat is low lying areas such as swamps, and bogs. The larch is deciduous and the needles turn yellow in autumn.

I photographed this scene in the late afternoon. Sunlight was filtering through the clouds. The side lighting intensified the yellow color of the tamarack. The backdrop of the green spruce helped to allow the tamarack to stand out in the photo.

Oh So Lonesome

Cascada-Blanca

Oh So Lonesome

Have you ever gotten

That feeling, of feeling lonely

Of feeling,oh so lonesome

In a cold,cold home

Her love is gone

Her heart turned cold

As cold as a stone

I think I’m in the Arctic

I feel so benumbed

Her angry words frosty

Like the cold North wind

You left me behind

I know I am to blame

I asked for your forgiveness

But you had no mercy

I know we have been

Through troubled waters

She told me, she had no trust

I was like the dust

Blowing in the wind

She had made up her mind

To leave me behind

Have you ever gotten

That feeling, of feeling lonely

Of feeling,oh so lonesome

In a cold,cold home

Oh so lonesome

In a cold,cold home

Oh so lonesome

In a cold,cold home

In My Arms

Rio Blanco_0376

In My Arms

The music is playing

The lights grow dim

Just you and me

My love

As we glide slowly

Over the dance floor

We danced

We kissed

Touching one another

To look into each others eyes

Seeing the depth of our love

The desire growing stronger

We danced

We kissed

Touching one another

The music softly playing

You are like a butterfly

In motion my darling

Beautiful and graceful

As we float along

Lost in time and space

The music softly playing

We danced

We kissed

Touching one another

The music softly playing

With her lips

To my ears

She whispers, I love you

I touch her lips

With a soft kiss

The music softly playing

We danced

We kissed

Touching one another

The music softly playing

Just Me And My Girl

MontrealRiver_4624

Sitting on a riverbank

Just me and my girl

The stars are shining

Like diamonds in heaven

The moon is sparkling

On the river’s surface

No wind is blowing

We are sitting, side by side

Holding hands

Stealing a kiss

Now and then

Just me and my girl

We talked about tomorrow

We talked about forever

And more

Rejoicing in our love

Being so young

Just me and my girl

We had not a care

In the world

Basking in the glow

Of our love

With the stars above

Just me and my girl

To be so young

To be so innocent

We talked about tomorrow

We talked about forever

And more

Just me and my girl

Rio Blanco River

Rio Blanco_0376

The Rio Blanco River, Nicaragua. I spent part of a day in Rio Blanco with Ira Stephenson, an American Expat friend, exploring the town. The Rio Blanco River flows through this town. We walked to the end of a street where we found a muddy and slippy trail leading down to the river. It was a cloudy day. Misty at times. This made the colors in the landscape saturated. I kept this shot tight with a vertical alignment. There by not to allow a large amount of rocks to be shown. Rocks in the foreground for added depth. The proper shutter speed to show motion in the water. The top one third of the composition is a solid green. This is to tone down the rock colors.

At this time of year the water levels are low. Well that is it for this week. Until next time happy trails

Tranquility

GeorgeLakeFall2014

A quiet peaceful morning

An overcast sky above

Calm waters prevail

In the quiet nooks

A touch of mist

Floating on the water

A dampness in the air

A place to retreat

To discover nature’s simplicity

The maples orange and red

The angled rock lines

Flowing into the water

The mark of glaciers

Scouring the shoreline rocks

A touch of color

On the time worn rocks

The morning sunlight

Edging the pine needles

A dreamy quieting morning

A soothing restful place
