The Steeples

_MG_1764_5422

The evening was getting quite late. I came to a sharp bend in the highway. The mountains were glowing from the setting sun, I quickly set up the camera and tripod. I was able to capture this scene.

Five kilometres in  length,The Steeples form the southern end of the Hughes Range that lies to the east of the Kootenay Valley from east of Columbia Lake to the Bull River that enters the Kootenay at the town of Bull River.

Simple And Effective

Premier Lake, Premier Provincial Park, BC

Late evening, low lighting

A touch of yellow. Dense evergreen forests. Rock structure. Plenty of driftwood.

This made for a nice misty, dreamy scene. Simple and effective.

Very strong on the greens in various shades.

Blue Skies and The Kootenays

I continued hiking and searching for photo opportunities outside of Cranbrook. I spotted this particular scene with added color. With the mountains in the background. Color on the ground for the foreground made for a pleasing scene.

Of interest was I noticed signs of Mule deer. There was an area where they bedded for the night. A pond was near by.

Playing The Angles

_MG_2014_5452

I discovered this interesting rock face of this portion of the Rocky Mountains, North of Cranbrook BC on to Fort Steele. I traversed the Kootenay Highway . By adjusting my camera angle, creating a tight composition I managed to capture this image.

Lussier River

_MG_2243_5667

It is an interesting drive up the side of a mountain on a active logging road. Then it is a winding steep drive down the other side of the mountain to Lussier Hotsprings. The hotsprings are located in Whiteswan Provincial Park.

The Lussier River flows here. I walked down the trail to the river. I commence to capture the river with its Fall colors. It was a cloudy, cool day. As you will notice there is bits and pieces of Fall color here and there.
