Beautiful Lake Minnewanka. In Banff National Park, Alberta.
Snow covered peaks. Beautiful contrasting trees in the foreground. Somewhere in Banff National Park, Alberta.
We were driving along the highway in Banff National Park in Alberta. There were many scenes to admire as we drove along. This particular scene was eye catching.
The foreground has been ravaged by fire.
The mountain peak covered in early snow

In the late Fall
Turbulent clouds swirling
Dipping to touch the peak of the mountain
St Mary’s Lake, BC. I was set up photographing St Mary’s Lake from the side of the mountain. The lighting began to change dramatically to my left. The sky was darkening. There was more shadows appearing. You can see the rain approaching through the valley on the left. But still some sunlight breaking through the clouds. The mountain side became awash with light.
I was attracted to what looked like scattered pieces of rock. There is a break between the peaks. Therefore I set up a composition using the break in the peaks to emphasize the flow of rock pieces on the snow. The location is the Bow Lake area in Banff National Park, Alberta.
With the trees in the foreground, The mountains in the middle ground and the clouds in the background. It all comes together in a nice composition to view. The composition has great depth. This photo was taken somewhere around or near Banff National Park, Alberta.
There is a unique feeling observing clouds below the mountain peaks. It gives you a whole different prospective of your surroundings. It means you have moved up the ladder higher in the sky. Maybe someday you could even walk in the clouds. Now that would be cool.
This is a view of St Mary’s Lake BC. It is a view of the back end of the lake. My brother Bob and I turned on to a gravel logging road. The road climbed ‘higher and higher till we were traveling above St. Mary’s Lake. As is always the case on these roads, you are enclosed by trees on either side of you. When an open towards the lake appears, you can pull over and photograph.
Now here we have a scene of tremendous depth. The valley between the mountains goes to infinity. The shadows are deep. Beautiful clouds to fill the background.
